I also finished a lace shawl but I can't show it to you as a) it's unblocked and we all know unblocked lace looks crap and b) it's a gift for someone who may be reading my blog and we don't want to spoil a surprise, do we? ;)
I do have something I can show you. A few days ago I cast on a Citron using some Color Changing Cotton.

The yarn is nice enough to work with even though it's an unplyed yarn. It's just 4 strands of cotton next to each other. But it's cotton so it's tiring to work with. At first I thought I could do 1 section a day but it's not going to happen.

So to take my hands off the cotton, I've decided to cast on for the Norwegian Rose Socks using some Clan yarn.

The problem? My swift and ball winder are still in France so I have to hand wind the yarn.
In other news I turned 30 a week ago. I didn't have a party or anything. I just baked a cake (chocolate and ginger) and ate it all! Well almost, we put some in the freezer.

And here's the bouquet my MIL gave me when I saw her a few days later. It complements our red curtains really well! ;)

Belated happy birthday!
Those flowers are really nice. I must get a vase when I am back in Leiden, so I can indulge in flower buying on the Saturday market!
Another belated happy birthday! (I always end up making my own birthday cake, too.)
The socks look gorgeous. Very complex but at least not a boring knit!
Beautiful socks but what is up with that foot?! It's gigantic! Or is it the angle?
Oh colour changing cotton - lovely - sorry it's hard to knit.
I've just stumbled upon your interesting blog tonight....greetings from Northern Ireland where there is a great knitting tradition.
